Our team includes a number of writers and experts, all contributing to different parts of this website. In fact, even in a single article, we will have a number of different authors and contributors. Because of this, no article is authored by a single person and instead our content is written under the umbrella name of our company. To see our full writing and editorial policy click here.
Listed below are some of the core people that write and edit our reviews, guides, and information – as well as fixing any technical problems that might arise. Also, we’d like to thank all of our friends and associates not included here that have advised us and helped us over the years on issues we couldn’t solve.
When Jack was 8 years old he owned his first pair of pet budgies named “Tess” and “Jess”. Years later, after going to university and starting his career as a personal care worker, he decided to reignite his passion for birds. He’d gone through all of the life hurdles of getting married, having kids and buying a house in the countryside of the American south, so now was the time to take up his hobby again.
Since then it’s almost been 15 years of bird owning bliss. Well “almost” because he’s learned many hard lessons along the way. Close calls with birds nearly escaping, bird sicknesses and diseases plus other times when predatory foxes got too close for comfort. However, these are the types of mistakes that now with his years of experience he’s able to easily avoid.
Aside from looking after pet birds, his other hobbies include gardening, walking his pet dog Miles, cooking, home DIY and going on the odd camping trip. Jack has published hundreds of articles online about bird ownership.
Melissa grew up on a farm in the south and has owned pet birds in one way or another her entire life. She is now an owner of 5 parrots!
Additionally, she looks after and fosters birds that have been rescued and are from pet shelters, so she is very experienced with a range of different animals. She’s also an amateur twitcher – someone that goes wild bird spotting. Melissa works as the PR and communications expert for the site in addition to writing and editing a vast number of the articles.
