Hello and welcome to HereBird.com
My name is Jack Taylor and my goal is to advise bird owners how to build (or buy) the best possible homes for their birds.
HereBird.com was started in 2011 with the goal of providing easy to understand bird ownership and aviary/cage building advice. I noticed that much of the information found online about pet bird handling just wasn’t vey clear or easy to follow.
So I created HereBird.com to be different and decided that it was going to be have straightforward and easy to follow instructions and advice that everyday normal people could understand.
When I was 8 years old I owned my first pair of pet budgies. I have many fond memories from my childhood playing with my parakeets named “Tess” and “Jess”. However, after they had passed away, I only got back into aviculture many years later after I had gone to university and started my career as a personal care worker.
I decided to reignite my passion for birds after I had gone through all of the life hurdles of getting married, having kids and buying a house in the countryside of the American south.
Since then it’s almost been 15 years of bird owning bliss. Well I say ‘almost’ because there’s also been many hard learnt lessons along the way. I’ve had a few close calls with my birds nearly escaping and other times there’s been run ins with predatory foxes getting very close to my aviary. However, these are the types of mistakes that now with my years of experience I’m able to easily avoid. Keep reading this site and hopefully my advice will help you to avoid some of the most common pitfalls that bird owners encounter.
Aside from looking after my pet birds, my other hobbies include gardening, walking my pet dog “Miles”, cooking, home DIY and going on the odd camping trip here and there.
Most of the information I provide can be found on the blog or you can see some of my most popular content below:

Otherwise, I wish health and happiness to you and your birds!
